Note: If you want to create tear-off strips on the bottom, end the rectangle above the area where you will put the strips. The rectangle is selected and you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move it so that it’s centered on the slide/poster. Using the horizontal and vertical rulers as a guide, drag from the upper-left corner to the lower-right corner, and release the mouse button.From the Home tab’s Drawing group, click the Rectangle icon.On the View tab, check the Ruler checkbox. To help you place the rectangle without obsessing over exact precision, display the ruler.To add a border, you can use a simple rectangle with a double border. A border isn’t necessary, so skip this section if you don’t want one. Once you find something you like, creating the poster will be much easier. While we’re talking about layout, it’s a good idea to sketch your poster’s layout in advance, using regular ol’ pencil and paper. You now have a tabula rasa, a blank slate. With your mouse cursor not on any slide object, right-click and choose Layout> Blank. In PowerPoint 2007 or PowerPoint 2010, click the Design tab.Also, most posters use a portrait orientation (higher than they are wide), but the default slide size is landscape. That won’t work for your poster, so you need to change the Page Setup setting. The default slide size is 10 inches wide by 7-1/2 inches high (at least in the United States).
